High Rise Building Air Con Installation 

We were approached with the task of designing an air conditioning system to both heat and cool a new office fit out on a high rise building in Nottingham city centre.

The client told us that as the offices were on the 5th floor, and had single glazed windows down the full length on both sides, heating and cooling the space had always been an issue. After visiting the site and meeting with the client to discuss their needs, we designed a system to fit their spec; provide efficient, reliable, year round, temperature control at a fair price!

How did we install the air con units?

Using Toshiba air conditioning, we came back to the customer with a system that would give independent control for each of the smaller offices and meeting rooms. To cover the open plan area of the office we opted for a large quad system, with the aim of keeping the whole area under one point of control but being able to balance the output where needed.

Once we had agreed on the finer details our team set to work on the installation. All the pipe and cabling would be secured on cable tray inside the ceiling void, giving a neat and tidy finish. The ceiling cassettes were each supplied with 2 litre tank pumps to give reliable condensate removal.

One of the more challenging aspects of this installation was to get our pipes from the 5th floor ceiling void, down to the flat roof above the 2nd floor. We managed to work out a route down a tight riser and core drill a neat hole out onto the roof with zero disruption to the offices on other floors. Once out on the roof the condensers were sat on concrete slabs and pipe work ran on tray behind the units, resulting in a simple, neat job.

The settings on select systems were altered to give premium performance where needed and a timer set up to suit the end users requirements. The final result was a system that surpassed the client’s initial specification, followed by a service agreement giving 5 years of worry free comfort.
