Gym Air Conditioning

Chill Air Conditioning Ltd can supply and install a system for year round temperature control in your gym. An air conditioning system will provide a safer and more comfortable workout environment. Cooler temperatures can allow athletes to train harder without suffering as much from the fatigue and reduce the risk of dehydration and heat exhaustion.

Our air conditioning systems also provide heating. Many gyms are in large commercial buildings, once winter comes the temperatures can drop dangerously low. This is not only bad for your customers but also your staff! Air conditioning means you get temperature control for all seasons, from one system.

Gym Air Conditioning FAQs

  • Why is air conditioning in gyms important?

Living in a climate that seems to prefer rain above anything else means that many businesses overlook air conditioning as a necessity. However, there are certain environments that can really benefit from installing an air conditioning unit, not only to cool the atmosphere, but also to aid safety, health and to create a consistent, regulated temperature. A gym is one such place where air conditioning is essential to keep the space comfortable and protected and we can provide a range of units to help you do this.

We have all felt the burn whilst pounding on a treadmill, so it is easy to understand why a gym environment can become stuffy and uncomfortable. This isn’t just unpleasant for your clients, it can also lead to them over-heating, which can cause fatigue, headaches, dehydration and heat exhaustion as they work harder and harder, which can compromise their health.

By maintaining a more temperate atmosphere, your clients will sweat less, therefore avoiding skin problems, discomfort and over exertion, which makes them more likely to return to your business on a regular basis.

It is tempting to think that simply opening a window occasionally will suffice, but this can then either make the room too cold after a while, or not provide enough cooling in the summer months. A gym air conditioning unit means that you can maintain a consistent temperature throughout the day.

It also allows you to adjust that temperature according to whether the room is being used for high intensity workouts, a dance class or a yoga session. It is recommended that the optimum temperature for a gym is around 21 degrees Celsius, so air con units for gyms are the perfect way to keep this stable and steady.

Whilst air conditioning is traditionally thought to keep a room cooler, did you know that it can also help to save on your heating bills? This is due to the fact that heat pumps are recognised as being one of the most efficient forms of heating and cooling as the pumps simply move heat around rather than generating it themselves.

In a post-COVID world, we are all much more aware of what is in the air around us, and most air conditioning systems include a form of air purification. Gym ventilation is vital in maintaining good air quality and eliminating bacteria and viruses through air extraction and ventilation measures. Recent guidelines state that optimum airflow should be maintained at all times. It also means that dust particles, pet fur and mites can be removed safely, creating a fresher, healthier environment for all.

  • What are the types of air con systems for gyms and leisure centres?

Gym air conditioning installation is a straightforward process but making sure you have the right system is important. The unit you need will depend on the space that you have available, as this will help to determine whether you need a wall-mounted or external unit, for example. Larger fitness centres can benefit from a Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) system that can be connected to indoor units via the roof of the building. It not only manages the cooling and heating of the area with consistent air flow but also requires very little maintenance.

Smaller spaces can benefit from a split air conditioner which allows you to connect several indoor units at once, enabling you to maintain different temperatures in different rooms through a wall-mounted thermostat or remote control. These systems are both quiet and energy efficient.

Fitness Worx Case Study

Chill Air Conditioning Ltd we’re approached by Fitness Worx gym in Coventry to supply and install an air conditioning system. The aim was to keep their clients and staff comfortable so they can carry on delivering the best gym environment possible.

We went for two large, Midea ducted systems, suspended from the warehouse ceiling. Installing three large ducts off of each unit meant we could cover a large area of the gym without the added cost of more units, it would also circulate the air in the room better.

Keeping the units up high meant that they would not interfere with any of the gym equipment or members workouts. This system not only fits the brief performance wise, but it looks awesome!
